Show of hands....who HATES to be called ma'am? Ahhhh...ladies only please :) Today I am shopping at Bed, Bath and Beyond...the sales person asks "Are you finding everything okay MA'AM?" I smiled and replied, pleasantly "yes"....what I wanted to say was "Ma'am! What the f***?!?" I think my first jaw dropping hit-and-run ma'am-o-gram occurred in 1988, Albuquerque, New Mexico on a Saturday, in a Mall, around 2:30 pm (give or take). :) I was twenty-something. I know it's suppose to be a sign of respect, good manners, etc. Southern gentlemen especially are "trained" to call a lady "ma'am" from the time they are wee-lads. But here's a 411....it's makes all woman feel old, unattractive, craggy and shorter. :) If you are like me, you experience the ma'am spam most often when shopping or in a restaurant. Here's a lesson - Take it from the employees at the "The Buckle." I have to say their customer service is top shelf and it's usually just a bunch of teenagers for sales people! Everytime I shop there, they don't call me "ma'am." They greet me as soon as I walk in the store with an ethusiatic "hello young lady, what can we help you find today?" Brilliant! Now I realize the teenager greeting me is probably thinking "ma'am," or "geez what a geez" but the charade is appreciated and they are in the business of selling clothes and providing great customer service! Can you relate young ladies? :) Share your "chips"...

OK so I can't resist the play on words...Ma'am-o-gram...let me see - the word Ma'am makes us feel old and conventional...and getting a Mammogram essentially does the same thing...combining mental and physical pain. But if I had to choose, I think I would still take the Ma'am-o-gram over the squeeze-o-gram!
